about
Chawbucket Row, like many of the first burst of CHAW songs, was inspired by the band getting together and brainstorming on an idea. this idea was, "Hey! let's do a parody of one of those Americana anthems you might hear from the 80's or 90's, with the jean jackets and majestic themes! we could pretend like there's a big aircraft fan in our faces as we sing unto the masses!". and thusly, the song was born.
The lyrics aren't quite done yet, I have three versions of the third verse, and it changes often. eventually it will settle after we've gotten it down pat.
lyrics
I don't know where i'm going
I'm just walking down that road
Seems that everybody has left me
They all went down to Chawbucket Row
Chawbucket Row, Chawbucket Row, woah woah,
They all went down to Chawbucket Row
(now, listen here!) This one time, I was in Virginia (That's right!)
Didn't see too many people I liked there
All they did was read from the Good Book
But all the words just-a-came out bad
Chawbucket Row, Chawbucket Row, Woah Woah,
All the words came out bad, on Chawbucket Row
She woke up to find herself believing
In the stories she was told the night before
Make a promise to yourself, it can't be broken,
You might find yourself on Chawbucket Row
Chawbucket Row, Chawbucket Row, Woah Woah,
You might find yourself on Chawbucket Row
I read all your Back Pages (All of em!)
They read like the Cliff Notes I used to know
Once you've raped everything on Wall Street,
Main Street looks just like Chawbucket Row
Chawbucket Row, Chawbucket Row, Woah Woah,
Main Street looks just like Chawbucket Row
